Eurovision Song Contest winner Alexander Rybak (23) is making much from his success. So far, Rybak sold 280,000 registered copies of the album "Fairytales" within three months.
That means he has got at least five million Nkr on record sales alone. The calculations, Dagbladet has done.

- It is far from inconceivable that "Fairytailes" will reach half a million copies sold before next summer, says one, who knows the business, Asbjørn Slettemark to the newspaper.
Album sales have exceeded all expectations, in a market that otherwise goes infringing.
- If he wins, I am confident that he will sell at least 50,000 albums, "said Erling Johannessen in Emi Music Norway to the E24 the same night that Rybak was standing on stage in Moscow.
The expectations were baffled after only three weeks.

Rybak has released the album on own label, but sold by others through licensing agreements.
Typically an artist earns about 12 Nkr per album sold through such agreements, said attorney Christian Wadahl Uhlen the artist association GramArt to Dagbladet.
In addition, there is Rybaks copyrights as a songwriter. TONO collections in money from record companies, and sends about eight pounds for a whole album to songwriter.
Roughly gives the Rybak around twenty Nkr per album, that is at least 5.6 million kroner in total, if the calculations are correct.

When the matter is not income from radio play, internet sales, advertising assignments, events, concerts and the lucrative summer tour in the rain. There are also several countries that have not reported sales figures.
- What happens with Alexander is completely beyond anything we've done before so it is difficult to compare, "said Erling Johannessen to E24 in June.

Not unexpectedly, the sales figures give Rybak a big effort in the private economy. In 2007 he was listed in tax lists with a netto income of 152.000 Nkr and savings worth of 171,000 kroner.
Still he lives in a rented room at Nordstrand in Oslo, with Karin Madsen (71). She rents housing to young classical musicians. She does not believe Rybak will move out yet, despite the millions.

- You know, I think not. He has both feet so firmly planted on earth, " she says to Dagbladet.
She says that Rybak asked to pay more rent after the victory. With the last months of income, should not mean big trouble for him.
