Alexander Rybak is experienced and skilled, despite his relatively short time in the spotlight but the enthusiasm and joy to play is, fortunately, young and glowing.
Alexander the Great
The crowd is dense in front of the safety barrier and security personnel with a cross on their backs. Boys and girls. Mothers, fathers, grandparents. And those without good excuses to stand here and yell for Rybak.
- “ Oh my God, I saw him.”
Slightly more cool from the ten to eleven year olds behind me:
“- He's THREE minutes late!”
- “He 's probably a diva ...”
- “Diva? Like her Hanna Montana? Nah. Don´t think so”.
Kjersti Gullvåg, who has guided us through the event, with a steady hand, checks the audience knowledge of facts, before she lets the main guest on stage.
- “Where is Alexander Rybak born? - Oslo? NO MINSK! - What's the name of his father? - Igor! The answers are falling rapidly, and finally, the long awaited Eurovision-winner, can come fiddling up on stage with the success of the song "Roll with the wind".
"Roll With The Wind" with halling guys in bright pants. And guess whether the boy plays? He is lying and playing and jumping and playing and he looks just as excited as most of the audience probably feels.
After a few quick songs that gives associations to the milkmaid and haystacks, cows and farms in the summer, he gallantly glides over to his version of Sommeros "Vårsøg". This is received by the audience, but only when the butter-song, everyone has been waiting for, the impressive "Funny little world" comes, we get screaming girls, waving posters and Rybak coming down and greet. And all hearts rejoice. And when he finally delivers "Fairytale" there is a sigh through the assembly of large and small, and all are happy to sing along.
Rybak delivers energetic, precise and with a great joy in the brief hour, the session lasts. He is a prodigy on the fiddle and his voice is that on the record, warm and sweet as Belgian chocolate with the little extra that makes you happy to take one and another. For some of the kids, it was just too much to stand still so long, and a good deal of them searched the mud puddle's pleasures. In addition to the crowd in the area was the grassy slopes filled by families who enjoyed the concert. Afterwards was the charming troll, signing autographs, which at the concerts with an audience as this, is almost as important as the show itself.
