An interview for ukrainian program “Podyem” (“Wake up!”) with a host Alexander Pedan. 26/06/09

Pedan: blah-blah (not related to Alex)
Long-haired guy: Do you have such foto – you with some guy from Norway?
Pedan: No, I don’t have a foto, but I’ve seen him. (to audience) Take a look.

Pedan: We are near of a makeup room of Alexander Rybak – you know - the winner of Eurovision 2009. I feel like I am a true journalist, reporter and so on and we will try now to do an interview with him, let's go.

Pedan: Sasha, it’s nice to meet you, my name is Alexander too; we are namesake with you. Sasha, tell us, please, do you know that in ukrainian the name Alexander is to be written as Olexander?
Rybak: A-a-a…
Pedan: You see, how this all is really difficult? And how about Norway? How do they call you in Norway?
Rybak: Alex.
Pedan: Alex, just Alex?
Rybak: A-ha. And here it would be Olex?
Pedan: It would be Olex, probably. You would be Olex for us.
Rybak: I see.
Pedan: What melody do you have on you cell phone, tell me the truth, please. Because, when I walk on the streets I hear only your ring-tone (melody) out of all cell-phones of the world.
Rybak: Well, but not out of my one (phone). I just got myself a new phone and I had not enough time yet to see into it throughly.
Pedan: And what melody did you have before?
Rybak: (shrugs) Same, I did not ever buy songs. (I guess he meant he never was concerned about this matter)
Pedan: You are a classical musician, classical violinist who came over to pop-music, lets call things with their real names.
Rybak: Yes-yes.
Pedan: Didn't you try to play some kind of a harder music like "Apocaliptica", you know, something in such style as "rock"?
Rybak: I don’t think that I am the right person to play rock-music (laughs).
Pedan: Why not? You could try.
Rybak: I am not too much, how to say this, a macho to play rock.
Pedan: As for me, you have enough of a macho in you. I think our audience will appreciate this.
Rybak: Let hope for this. Anyway I like to be such as, well… I just like to tell stories. I don’t have the strongest voice in a world but I have a big will (wish) to tell stories, to sing…
Pedan: To share?
Rybak: Yes, to share.
Pedan: Cool. There are a lot of students who watch our program. Have you graduated the conservatoire?
Rybak: Nope (laughs)
Pedan: When will you do this at last?
Rybak: I haven’t yet. Well, some day… if I will graduate it… in 3-4 years… but it won’t be under normal rules.
Pedan: So, you decided to go to bypass here. Please, say congrats and hello to our viewers of the program “Podyom”.
Rybak: First, if you have voted for me – thank you very much, and if you haven’t – well, thank you for watching now though (laughs). In general, it was 12 points from Ukraine.
Pedan: 100%, all of our viewers have voted for you, it's sure for 100%.
Rybak: Thank you very much. I hope that not too many weeks will pass before I will come here again.
Pedan: And we hope in our turn, that you will come to us during your world tour. Ok, deal?
Rybak: Deal.
Pedan: Thank you, bye!
Rybak: That was a pleasure, bye!

Then in studio hosts have discussed their impression of the interview. (I guess Alex has given this interview after the show and the press-conference in the middle of the night and he was very tired and had some trouble trying to find and recall russian words)

Girl: Have you seen that Rybak was noticeably nervous giving an interview to such a star as Pedan? His eyes were on his forehead. He could not believe he saw him and he could not find the words.
Long-haired guy: I’ve got an impression that Rybak in general was hardly aware of what he was doing.
Pedan: He is so overdriven. First thing he said to me: Sorry, you have been waiting for me for long (imitates intonation). Really.
Long-haired guy: And Sasha (Pedan) did this: I’ve been waiting for you all my life. (laugh)
Pedan: No, thanks to Rybak. He is very young man, very nice guy who has so many things fallen down on him, these eyes have opened widely(shows).
Girl: And Rybak came here under a thunder and lightning, there was terrible thunderstorm that day…
