Concert: The place was Karpedammen, and the reason the Oslo Chamber Music Festival Open Air Concert which this year was visited by Alexander Rybakk, with adjacent delights.
Never has the park around Karpedammen been more populated, with children of all ages from 12 to 82.
Preserved, the boy-to-the-play-syndrome is out of date when it come to Rybakk. We know, and hear all that he can. The question is just how well he plays, when he put Vivaldi and JS Bach on the program, along with Barratt-Dues Junior Orchestra, and - in Bach - Tellefsen themselves.
This was not very good, unfortunately, because this is music where the game is in focus, in a way that you can not charm them from. There was distinct phrasing, a tone formation which did not sound nice, and a lot more details of audible songs, especially when they are not in place.
What saves him is the tricks he did together with Arve Tellefsen.
So it was a change of Rybakk-course as we all know from before, in the wide and thick. It took him and the gang on the straight arm, with the entire familiar tangent in place.
Rybakk is bursting of musicality. But does he need to be bursting so much, all the time?
