Translation of half the press conference from NRK 18.05.09.
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/495628
(I did not have more time, and it is until approx 12 minutes of the video.)

It was never translated before and I know some of you would like to understand what he is talking about..

It starts with everybody greeting each other and they know each other well from before. Most of them were in Moscow with him and they work for NRK. The man who sits beside him is the head of NRK.

- Applause for Alexander!

- Then you can start…

I will welcome you home in a proper way. I was at the airport and saw a little confused boy who tried to get out yesterday. Fantastic job! You may be allowed to say anything if you have something to say. We'll just mainly take the opportunity to thank you for the job you have done for Norway and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.

A: It is very nice. It was the greatest welcome I could ever get yesterday. When we landed on the airport, it was really wild. I mean, really I had no idea what I asked for. I was thinking about my neighbour, that he should come and meet me. I really apologize for those who got some elbows in the face or something. But it was mostly happy people there, I noticed, and it was very nice. We tried to sing as much as we could with them and it was a great atmosphere.

- It was a bit tight.

A: Yes, yes

- If it's okay with you, they can start shooting with questions and other things. I do not know how much time you have...

A: No, it ... How much time do I have Kathrine? I have the time, it's mum's 50th birthday so you can just go on…

- Tell us a little bit about your plans. Today, you are going to Nesodden and meet the mayor?

A: Yes and then I will celebrate my mom. And then we have already booked a number of concerts with Frikar, starting with Tønsberg on Wednesday I think, next is Skien and then we take it from there.

- It was a record of 2,2 million Norwegian’s who saw you on television on Saturday, and what do you think about that?

A: At the risk of being a little cocky now, I think that people eventually need to stop being surprised by these records. We have become accustomed, sorry; we eat records for breakfast now. No, but I am myself very surprised, its fun that so many have followed me. So it is just to continue to set records then. NRK is the best, as I've always said.

- Where do you hope the finals will be held next year?

A: I hope…..

- Nesodden?

A: I hope it is primarily a place where they have a large arena. I'm sure many ... It's a tradition every time someone... Most important is the debate even though everyone knows very well where the MGP ends up next year, but it is important that the debate is there. But...

- Sigurd, are you going to hire him?

A: Would you like to lead the MGP, like last year's winner in the Norwegian finals this year?

A: I still do not know if I... No, I think I'm a little too disorganized to lead such a show, but I have many ideas so I hope you'll listen to me. As soon as possible...

- Some ideas to share with us?

A: We won with Frikar, so it becomes very difficult to imagine that they are not going to have a performance some time during the show, so we expect that. And there are many other things.

- How have you been the last few days.

A: I have been very good, and then I never get used to my role is more than doing things on stage. That’s what I am used to. I'm always caught off guard that I have to perform also after I have performed. Now I understand why you earn so much on having concerts, because you do much work after that too. It is a completely different life. I must just say goodbye to my old life with four weeks at the cabin every time I have vacation. I must just be glad that I'm allowed to give as much music as I do now.

- But you never think your life will be normal again for you?

A: Yes, but not in a year at least. So, this is the greatest attention I'll ever have in my entire life. So there will be less after this. But even if I am never going to be so popular anymore, as now, it does not mean that I am not going to make more important music further in life.

- But we've run after you all this week in Moscow, there have been 3,200 journalists and you experienced what you did yesterday and we have run after you today. How tired are you of the press after this week? You have handled them in a fabulous way, but...

A: Actually, it's very good timing on that question. Like today, I am enjoying myself now, and as long as you changes slightly about the questions I am very happy.

- When you now are going on tour and many will come and listen to you, who will hear you first?

A: Tønsberg, as I said.

- And further, who will hear you in the summer?

Oh Kathrine, will you answer it?

K: It will come an overview on your homepage today.

A: It will come... Do I have a homepage? Yeah, okay, there is an overview on… is it alexanderrybak.no?

K: On the MySpace page.

A: Ok. My homepage, you… my MySpace page... You can see it on Facebook.

- There comes a debut album 2nd of June, can you tell us about the content?

A: Yes, it's all carefully planned, so the real introduction to the CD comes later. But the songs have very simple melodies. There are a lot of violin, but not so much of the Fairytale violin which on a very brutal way gets right into the song. But there are many stories, it's called Fairytales. Two of them are about animals, one about thirteen horses, and one is about a dolphin. And then there's a lot of love. And I care to write about things that are not for ever, so I can always sing the songs with a good conscience in a way. I like to write about moments that happen in life, and also have self-knowledge to know that those moments do not necessarily last forever, unfortunately. And it's not just my songs. I have a song by Rolf Løvland which is instrumental. And I have a translation of Vårsøg which certainly will be received in different ways, we'll see.

- You also have a song called Funny Little World. Have you written it yourself? When did you write in and why?

A: Have you heard the song? Yes, why do you ask me then?

- When did you write it?

A: I wrote it one night I could not sleep. The girl I sing about, I would meet the next day, and I was so excited that I could not sleep. Then suddenly I came up with this song then, and it was not meant to be on the album, it was to her. So it was just coincidence that we the day after that again, were going to Sweden to check out the producers Henke Wikstrøm and Amir Ali. I have continued to work with them because we would only do a little thing there and then I thought we might as well do that song. So we recorded it in five hours or something like that and we have not changed anything since. We like the Swedes, and I hope to co-work with them.

So we recorded it in five hours or something like that and we have not changed anything since. We really like the Swedes, and I hope to co-work with them.

- People from very various countries gave you top score, what do you think about why the song was liked so widely.

A: You talk about Fairytale now, don’t you? It must have been because I did not plan, I did not think too much. I just... Every time you get inspired to do something you should try to do it and see if it is a good idea or not. So luckily it came from inspiration. I had never been able to come this far if I had a plan to win MGP and said “now it is only to write a song”, you know. It just came when I was wandering in the mountains. No I did not, I was wandering around on Giske. But I have said this too many times.

- Alexander, the pressure from the media and the attention you experience now, I think very few can imagine how big strain it is. I wonder which strategy or do you have any techniques you use to relax, or is it still fun and are you not getting tired of it. Could you say something about how you experience this?

A: I have learned to relax, now for instance, when we talk. Because I have understood…Like this day is my only day off now for the next months, almost, and I have prepared myself on this being a day off, and then it is a day off. I have always liked to talk with people, and the fact that is a camera there is like when I was fifteen and spoke with other fifteen year olds on the ferry for instance. And in the end when we left the ferry one of the girls took a picture for instance, and I try to look at this like the same way of setting.

- It is not overwhelming?

A: No, everything that happens around me does not necessarily mean that the inside of my body changes completely. I think true happiness is the same regardless if it is a boy getting the ice-cream he wanted so badly or me winning MGP. Even though all people around me are totally crazy it does not mean that… Feelings are feelings regardless of the settings.

- The tough schedule you have had started with the semi-final in Skien. You are back there on Thursday, with relatively big expectations and they are building a special stage for you. What kind of show are you giving?

A: It is…How many are we on stage? We are nine, it is Frikar and me and the summer’s best live band, which are going to do a very dynamic concert. I do not like to have a pyramid, if you know what I mean, that I build it up and say “thank you for tonight” or that it goes up and up all the time and in the end it is only up tempo songs. All the time I like it to be.., yes you understand what I mean…

- How are you going to use Frikar from now?

A: On these entire summer concerts the four of us are a gang spliced together. And when I say the four of us, they are actually.., how many are you, 20?

Hallgrim: There are ten dancers who are involved as substitutes from the Frikar dance company.

A: Yes, ten of the whole company will alternate, because Hallgrim has always been a very busy man and he sure is this summer. What is the name of your performance at the Gålå water?

Hallgrim: We will do TidarÅ, which is an extreme sport and dance performance by a ravine, which I produce these days.

A: There you see.

- Will it be special for you to come back to Skien?

A: It sure will. It was the back-up I got there which started the whole race, it is very fun. And it was there I became a favourite. And it is very funny, that you never learn. You were a favourite before the national final and then all were sceptical because the favourite never win. Then I won in Spektrum, and then all said it was deserved because he after all was the favourite. Three days later I became a favourite again to win the international final, and then all wonder how this would turn out because it is never good to be a favourite, but again it helped. So I hope the next time someone from Norway is a favourite, you must not underestimate them, it is actually very nice to be a favourite.

- Per Sundnes predicted you would win.

A: Yes. The smartest move NRK has ever done was to hire him. There he is. He is so small that you do not see him.

-How much time do you use on the classical part of you life now?

A: No that is what people do not know about, how much I practise. It is the un-official.

- Do you get the time to practise now?

A: Yes some times. But it gets... I have for a long time pushed away from me... We have long time ago got in the blood from childhood, that you have to practise two three hours every day. If not you are bad in a way. But I have understood that even though I have not been practising one single day the last three four months, I have actually spent much time to play. Every time we did camera rehearsal in Moscow, it was at the same time also a practise.

- What do you think about that the music- and school orchestra all over the country played Fairytale as the new national anthem yesterday, also at the airport yesterday?

A: I am very happy for that. But again, I think too much, I think and dream about all sorts of strange things. They did not take me by surprise, I did really hope for it. And then it is really wonderful, when you really really hoping for something and it happen.

- What's next, you really really hoping for?

A: Oh, it was a difficult question. We wait a bit with that; ask it from time to time, so maybe I get...

- But yesterday at Gardermoen, or on stage, did you really not understand the scale of what you asked for? When you invited everyone to come, did you really not understand the consequences? Did you seriously believe only the neighbour would come? Have you thought anything about that?

A: I actually thought about some certain people when I said it, but then I realized what I said afterwards.

. And then it was too late.

A: Yes, but I'm happy because nobody was really hurt and that everything went well.

- What was the first thing Stian said to you when you met him after having said this live on television?

A: I think he was so far away from me right then, and afterwards it was just pure joy. Stian and I, we were celebrating.

- What is your best moment during MGP except winning...?

A: That was yesterday, is it considered as MGP, when I was greeted by the Norwegian embassy in Moscow. Because I've all the time said that it will suck not to celebrate in Norway, and not see a lot of national costumes in the daylight and Norwegian flags and stuff. But I took those words very quickly back when I saw it was like half of Bogstadveien meeting me there. It was fun. Not half of Karl Johan (main street in Oslo) but half of Bogstadveien, anyway. It's a small embassy and it was very crowded. All were wearing either national costumes or “russeklær” (ending-school-partying clothes) or... Everyone had Norwegian flags and we sang “Ja vi elsker” (national anthem) and then I realized that like many others I did not know second and third verse. And I stood in the middle of the stage and would lead the singing. It was a bit embarrassing, but then I got a sheet...

We take one more question, and then you can decide if you want to respond to what you are really really hoping for.

- With the media pressures you got now and the crazy attention you get, how do you think you are going to change as a person. You have been described as an open, honest and down to earth guy; do you think you will be able to keep the focus further on?

A: Yes, you have… I have to be honest and say that I am a little scared. Because I have heard many stories about people who became very famous, and they had good intentions. But eventually it became too much and they got very depressed. I do not feel depressed now, but I'll do my best and I have a very nice team around me. I have a very good management, which not only take care of my career but also my life. So I hope this will not happen.

As said earlier, he will be going to do other things also, so I think we only have to say...

A: Yes. Ok, can I just say what the next thing I am really hoping for is?

- Yes.

A: That the lady here invite me to dinner, where we will discuss a lot about what to do at ESC next year.

- Yes! You are invited, it is a promise! Alexander will have a wonderful dinner!

A: Very good!

Thank you for coming here.

(This was the full press conference, and then they suddenly wanted Alexander (and waited) to go direct on television (also the news) to talk about various things regarding Eurovision 2010. The press conference took a huge number of hours to translate and I have to do that part some time later if you want it translated)

A: Let's see. Princess Marthe!!

M: Hey!

A: Should we not been in now?

M: Yes, we are going in now.

A: We must hurry.

A: And here we have a cow, Hi.

M: You, there is one thing I have thought of. I am a princess, so for me to walk around with a cow's no point. I can not even ride on it .. So I was wondering - do you want to change your fiddle against Bergrosa?

A: Yes, you know, I've always wanted to trade my fiddle for a cow. I'll take it. Is this the only one you got?
M: Yes
A: No, stop it , behave(the cow) Is she nice?
M: Yes,she is sort of nice. But I'm not an expert with cows.
A: You can practice your fiddle then, I'll see you.
M: But we must go in. Come on.
A: Yes, I come - that way, yes.
M: Let’s se
A: If we - I think maybe - Oh yes. Hmmm? Do we get it in here? Let me see - I can try.
A: No, hey, hello
CB: Hello.
A: What are you going to do whit that?
CB: I'll carry it home with me.
A: Is it okay or do you think it is a bit suck?
C: No, I think it's nice to have a piano.
M: Can’t you just take the cow, instead?
A: Do you want the cow? For I can not get it in.
CB: A cow?
A: It's just nice to bring a cow home as a piano.
CB: But can you play on a cow?
A: Yes, yes, there is much more atmosphere in a cow than a piano.
M: Come on (and taking the piano)
CB: Yes, cows are nice to have.
A: Thank you.
CB: I have always wanted a cow.
M: Come on Alexander, let’s go.
CB Yes, yes, I got a cow. I had the piano for a few seconds ago, and that was it.
M. Hello friends and welcome to Fin Fredag. Hey, hey Alexander.
A. Hey, hey.
M: How did you make your song Alexander?
A: I wandered around in the kind of romantic rural areas, and then there came a melody in my head that I just had to try on the violin. So when I got home - I have apiano where I live - so I sat down and played. It was a ballad at first, and then it was finally like this.

M: And the final result, we have heard many times, we love it and like to hear it again.

(View video)

M: Quite amazing. I sat at home and voted that I've never done before.
A: You vote! Was it you who gave all the 750 'votes?
M: We've got over 100 questions for you, including from Anne Mari. The question is: What was it like standing in front of so many people and know they liked your song the best?

A: It was very strange, and of coure it was an unforgettable experience. Spektrum - how many were there? Approximately 4,000, and ½ of them had the name Alexander on something that they showed up. And that so many people know my name is quite strange.

M: It was so raw. You must answer a lot of questions tonight
A: Yes
M: But we will of course also have a new episode of Sara. And we shall have music video duel. You can choose between:

Christina Aguilera and The Killers.

M: Do you have any relationship to these two?
A: I like Christina Aguilra better, really.
M: Yes, then you vote on A
A: Yes
M: I can vote for B, because I think The Killers are pretty cool.
A: Yes. But you're a girl and I am a boy. That's the way it is.
M: And they are so nice – that’s what I should say now? But we should have a competition too.One of you will have to guess the one thing Alexander Rybak has brouht with him. Can you show us?

A: It is so small that it is difficult to see it .. Like here, I've spun it good together. What is this?
M: Yes, what is this, use your imagination.
A: Can you see it? Please wait. It was a bit hard to see, but if I show it like that in front of my pants, or maybe even better in front of the shoe.

M: Or, if you turn around and show it on the back ----
A: No, I do not
M: You do not ---
A: No.
M: okay. Then you can add it back.
A: But it is something.
M: I think I forgot to tell you that you will have to knit a little. Here you are.
A. Oh, that you really forgotten to tell me.
M: a surprise.
A: for I know of course how to do.
M: Yes, of course. Everyone knows it, and if not then it just fun.

M: In the meantime I’will open the mail. Today it says:
"You should run all the steps in NRK-building" Regards Isaac 11 years.
I've done it - it was so easy.

(Marthe is running)

Very nice the last picture there. Continue to send mail to me via e-mail or letter.

M: Alexander, we have received lots of questions for you too. How is the knitting going?
A: It was a bad idea to let me do this. Now I can’t get out of this.
M: It's very nice for me to see that you can’t do everything. I think this is really all right.
A: Okay
M: But you should not worry about it.
We have received lots of mail.
A: Yes
M: And now you will get the chance to trade yor piano to this doll, which is full of post. But first you need to sing a Russian song for us. Would you do it?
A: Can I use this (ponting at the piano)?
M: Yes, of cours.
A: This is a sad song.
(Plays the Piano)
And that was it.
M: Nice, come and sit down. You definitely deserve all the mail. What was the song about?
A: Love
M: Love - of course - here you have the doll.
A: It is nice
M: Then you can open it
A: There, and it was certainly a color code?
M: Yes, let us take a question.
"Hey, you look like very like much a boy in my schoolband, called Emil. He owes me 3,5 buns. Do you own somone some buns, or any anything else? "Yours, Agnes, who deserve buns.
M: Alexander, do you owe someone some buns?
A: If you owe someone something, you should give it back to that person. If I owe anyone anything? There are many who say I owe them a kiss, but that is not true, because for I have never been involved in the deal.
M: You have not promised anything?
A: No, you have to somehow make a deal before that they say they owe anyone anything.
M: I'm totally agree
A: Well, I think Emil should give back the buns.
M: I'm totally agree with you. Shall we take a new question?
A: I hope that Emil looking at the show now.
M: So bad Emil, Loan buns and not return them.
M: Next question: "Who do you think is the most beautiful in the world?" Regards Inga Lill 11 years.
A: Dear Inga Lill. Is it two names, or what? Okay. Ingalill. It was a very beautiful name. Who is the most beautiful woman in the world? Natalie Portman. If you know who she is?
M: The actor? But do you have to be so beautiful to make you like a girl?
A: She is pretty cute and inclusive. Something that is good with a girl, is when she is not like that who is not responding to messages and stuff. I don’t like that. It is crazy what is said that girls should wait 3-4 days to respond to a message.

M: I totally agree, you should be yourself ..
A: Yes, to be difficult and be "hard to get" means that there is a person who is so great that she jumps on you and give you a hug (odd phrase, I think he was buzzing a bit here)
M: But Natalie Portman hasn’t done that to you yet?
A: No, not yet.
M: One last question from Elisabeth.
"Will you marry me? Come to Sandnes and meet me on “Ruten”. You can live with
me. I love you. "
A: So nice. Will you marry me? Will you marry me? (Says the question with pressure on different syllables in the sentence)
Who knows? But I think that weddings are a bit exaggerated, to be honest. But Sandnes is a nice place, so I maybe play live there one day.

M: And then Elisabeth can go there and flirt a little.
A: Whether it was very sweet of you, Elizabeth.
M: I agree, now we rise up, now anyone can guess about Alexander’s “thing”.
A: Shall I show it one more time?
M: I think they've seen it.
"Torin how are you doing?" Fin Fredag!
Torin: Yes
M: Are you ready for your 10 seconds?
A: Am I ready?
M: Are you ready?
M / A: Ready steady go!

(Torin guess what it is ----- and guessing wrong)

A: No, sorry
M: Come on, you have some time. No, the time is out. Torin thought it had something to do with hunting.
A: It was awesome. I let her try. I realized that she was completely on berrytrip ( it’s a norwegian eapression. To be on berrytrip – means to be totaly lost). She was even on the wrong berrytrip.

M: Hi. Lisa Marie – Fin Fredag!
LM: Fin Fredag
A: Are you all right?
LM: Yes
M: Are you ready for your 10 seconds?
LM: Yes
M / A: Ready steady go!

(Lisa Marie guesses on what it could be, and guessing wrong)

A: Sorry, wrong
(Lisa Marie continue guessing)

A: You were set out. You thought you had the solution. I also think I'm right many times, so it turns out that I'm wrong. It's a little painful.

M: Now it is time for a new episode of SARA.
Sara and Thomas argue a lot, and now Desirè has begun to be with
Thomas, and then Sara can’t be friends with Desire eny more.

A: Young Life!

(After the movie)

M: And the problem are solved.

But tell me, Alexander, how is it when you have a girlfriend? Is it much trouble?

A: It is not, but - when I have girlfriend - sounds like I have it every month - laughs
M: You're famous now so maybe?
A: Who knows. Anyway, I do not like to argue, but it's healthy to argue a little bit sometimes.
M: Why?
A: Yes, because you can not hide things from each other. I think when I prpose to someone, it's going to be in the midst of the worst dispute. For if the girl says yes, then I know we will live together throughout life.

M: For when you argue, one would like to say "out with you!"
A: Yes, and when one uses such universal words such as "Can you for once (making his voice) --- But it's healthy to argue a little.
M: You have to state your meaning.
A: Yes
M: You can not go and keep it inside.

And If ypu want the answere on the question about how it goes with Sara and Desire, go to Sara's home page tonight.
A: I will do.
M: You are a fitness instructor.
A: Yes I am a fitness instructor. I set up a program for people who want to take care of their muscles, and I see to that they do not hurt themselves or me, or anyone else when they are training.
M. Now you should be able to trade your doll against a suitcase full of money. If you manage to lift it. Want to try?
A: How should I – Let’s see.
M: Now I have the suitcase here. Now we'll see. No, I can not lift it. There, yes.
A: If you are able to lift it, so I can too.
M. Yes, because you are a fitness instructor.
A. I was able to lift it now.
M: But you have to lift it with one arm, and right up to the neck.
A: Are you kidding?
M: No, do that and the suitcase is yours.
A: Okay, okay, I'll do it
M: (tightens sweater upper arm) We have to see if you have muscles.
A: No, no (and laugh a little embarrassed).
M: You did it, and you win the suitcas and an applause from me.
A: Thank you. And I won the princess too?
M: The Princess, you have already.
M. Shall we see who won the music video-the duel?
A: Yes
M. Counting down 5 4 3 2 1 - That was it-Christina Aguilera won.
A: Absolutely. There, you see.

M: And now, somebody will try to win the thing to Alexander again, and afterwards on he will perform for us, but first the music video.

---

M. Is agreed with you that it was a little catchy.
A: I would like to make a music video once.
M: Iyou have to, first Fairytale, and so many others.
A: mmm
M: Here we are with a kind of thing, and it has nothing to do with hunting and fishing.
A: But the other girl she was a little close
M: Let's hear what Annbjørg says: "Annbjørg – Fin Fredag!"
AB: Fin Fredag
A: Fin Fredag
M: Are you ready for your 10 seconds?
AB: Yes
A / M: Ready steady go!

(AB guessing, but guessing wrong)

A / M: Åhhhhh, sorry.

M: When you played the violin you lost bowhair. I saw that there was some hair that fluttered around, and it was very nice.
A: Yes, but it was just one hair that broke this time, because I played a little nicer.

M.: Benedikte? (Next caller) Fin Fredag - are you ready for your 10 seconds?
B: Yes
A / M: Ready steady go!

(Benedikte guessing and responding correctly)

A: Yes, congratulations.
M. Yes, it was appropriate
M: Alexander, what is this? You need to explain.
A: It is not worth a shit.
M: Yes it is, because it is yours. Alexander Rybak's bowhair.
A: Yes, okey. But you can not buy anything for it. But I hope you want it.
M: Tell us when you used it.
A: I used it on Kjempesjansen, and I lost one bowhair, and that is what you are going to get young lady.
M: What will you do with it?
B: Put it in my room for decoration.
M: Yes, do it. And join us a little bit more, for now we will look at Kjempesjansen, when Alexander used the bowhair.

M: There you saw him Benedikte. You get the bowhair in the mail. Bye. Congratulations.
A: That was it. Then I have to say goodby to the hair.
M: You can not go before you have played a song. How much are your violin worth?
A: about 90,000, no I will not say. Lots of money in the least
M: Are you willing to trade the suitcase with money to your violin again.
A: All right, guve me the violin.
A: Have you had time to pratice on the violin?
M: What?
A: Have you had time to pratice on the violin?
M: No, I can certainly say that I have not.
A: I can play a song then, I surprise you.
M. There you go!
(Alexander playing I'm yours by Jason Mraz)
M: Åhh, I could listen to you the whole night.
A: Yes, but now it's over.
M: Then I have only one last trade to propose.
A: For the the violin?
M: You sing about fairytale, you've won half the kingdom. Do you want to trade your violin for a kiss from a real princess?
A: Yes, if you do like that (and pointing to his cheek)

---

M: Ahhh! Rude boy. Get the fiddle. That was rude. All right, then I play a bit. What should I do?
A: Just play it.
A: Thanks for watching, bye!

Translation of video about Frikar and Alexander working togehter. Old one from NRK 1, 15.5.2009

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVU1TurZvRg

R: The headdancer in Frikar, Hallgrim Hansegård, is our guest this Friday.
There is no doubt who is the head of Frikargruppen. The 29-year-old from Valdres gives everything on the rehearsals for the the new summer show where Frikar and Alexander Rybak cooperate.

A: I was afraid that Firkar would only be with me at the ESC, and that was it. But now we have an entire season ahead of us this summer, and they will add something unique to my concerts.
R: The boys brag each other accordning to the cooperation, which goes far beyond the ESC. They heavily preparing for the 40 performances they are going to have in public.

HH: Professional the collaborated with Alexander is very educational. He makes certain claims against us, and so do we to him. He has been learning folk music by Andreas Ljones, in relation to the style of play he will do on the tour. He has very specific meanings in terms of choreography, and that's great.

A: They add - what's it called? "Hoschba"? - Depth or whatever you call it. It will be show in addition to music. It's amazing.

R: What would you say about Hallgrim?

A: Perfect. A good leader, and he is very inclusive. Listening to all of us.

R: Two weeks ago, the preparations for the ESC circus in Moscow started.

HH: Now I'm excited. Have never been to Russia, so I hope we get time to look into the Kremlin buildings and different. Very nice to be called "Dancer", and not just "Lausdans-dancer". It's an upgrade from previous year

R: Rybak believes that Frikar have a lot of credit for the success he has in the ESC circus. There are not many who manage these physical exercises.

HH: Today we have a full review of the performance, so there will be an hour of warming up. We use the back a lot in "flikkflak" and such ting. Wrists must be totally warmed up. And of course the feet. It's a lot of hard work with the "kruking" .

A: And who taught him that, do you think? Hm?

R: With the media hanging on, it was finally time to try the stage for the first time in Moscow.
-----

R: It is far from the spotlight in Moscow. But the gym is Hallgrims training arena of everyday life. The choreographer and instructor has alternated between ESC rehearsals and preparing for a new production to be shown on the "Per Gynt" event in August.
VVM: Hallgrim as an instructor is incredibly demanding, but great to work with. He has brought Norwegian folk dance within contemporary dance, and the Norwegian dancers learn a lot about that.

R: How demanding are you? How fit must one be?

HH: Laughing. This is not for amateur dancers. The ESC-final is a unique opportunity for us to view Hallingdans and Frikar internationally. And to cope with the ambitions we have in according to both employment and promoting the "Lausdans" internationally, we depend on getting some culture gigs around europe.

R: And if "Lausdans" on the giant glass stage, which is 35 meters wide, will give Norway the top position, remains to be seen.

HH: We are of course going for victory.

R: And 300 million TV viewers will follow Hansegård in the finals tomorrow. Norway will start as number 20.

Translation of the video where Alexander is on photoshoot before the final of the Norwegian MGP 2009. from NRK 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ebXHH1-Vx8

A. I must really do this properly --- will you help me with this, or? When I take this on. Because I have ---. (He asks for help to fix his shoes before photoshoots)

A: Perhaps even more - like that. Mmm, yes. That will be cool.

A. It doesn't pay of anymore to sing in Norwegian. It's a little pity, because the ESC is to show all the different culture. But now they don't do that so much anymore. But I feel that I might do it with the violin, and then I can sing in English. (Coughs)

R. The Norwegian cultural element is, in other words, the violin?

A: Yes, It will be.
R: That's good. But now we must continue walking.
A: Yes.
R: You are going to take pictures. Is it a little hectic?
A: No, nothing is hectic now that I'm sick. Then everything goes on autopilot.
R: It will be hectic, but fun?
A: Yes, yes, absolutely. There is nothing negative in this.
R: Good luck!
A: Thank you.

I'm updating the list of Alex on Youtube, and I got some links to videos on Alex's official video channel from Theo, some of them without name of the song. One of them was Springleik, but does any of you know the name of this one:

Koncert with Frikar. Askim part 2. From the Official Alexander Rybak Youtube Channel

It's Norwegian folk music.

This also doesn't have a name of the song. With Arve Tellefsen:

@ Vennche - The first one is a song made by Andreas Ljones, and I think that Frikar performed it also in the program X-factor on TV2. Maybe you can find something there. The song is also usually played in Alex concerts.

I haven't a clue about the other one. But what about asking Gunnar Flagstad, the pianist? He works at Baratt Due, so maybe you can find an emailadr. on Barratt Dues website.

Thank you Tessa, I just added the list without name on those 2 songs and wrote a message to Theo about it.I paste our info in the message. He can probwbly just ask Alex if h wants to update it.

If someone knows the name or he checks it I can just add the list again. I's just an advantage to change it often, or else discussion disappears rather quickly.

Translation of an interview at the Norwegian Embassy, 17.5.09 from NRK 1:

Alexander Rybak:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMdZ9-z_AA8

There is a huge celebrating in Norway after Alexander Rybak's victory on Saturday. Here is NRK's report from Moscow made yesterday, when the new Norwegian ESC star celebrated the National day at the embassy.

Alexander comes to the Norwegian embassy in Moscow. Some few moments he goes uninterrupted. Hundreds of visitors and residents Norwegians and Russians have been waiting a long time for this moment.

To night it was never really exciting if Alexander Rybak would win the ESC final or not. It was more about how big the victory would be. The press conference afterwards was a huge party.

R: How are you going to celebrate 17 May?

A: On the Norwegian Embassy, and I will celebrate togheter with the Norwegian delegation. We're going to bother all the other passengers with singing the national anthem "Ja vi elsker" (Yes we love) the whole flight home.

R: For Norway's new superstar, the last day has been an incredible experience.

A: It is actually what happens here that is quite touching. Now I realize what has happened. And all this is very nice. Also, it is --- Also, it is --. Wait a little bit daddy. Also, I have my dad here, and that's very nice. I never thought that 17 May would be so nice to celebrate here in Moscow, I had never imagined.

Alexander adresses to his father: It's just like being in Oslo, isn't it?

Igor: What?

A: laughs. It is certainly that he hasn't understood what had happened yet.

Alexander addressed to his father again: It's just like being in Oslo, isn't it?

Igor: Yes, absolutely. Great atmosphere and it feels like home in Norway.

A: Yes.

Translation of Alexander Rybak teaching in school in Aalesund, Norway august 2009 from NRK 6.8.09.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjwOSraw1U8

A: One, two, three, ah!
R: When the instructor is Alexander Rybak, none of the young musicians have problems with the motivation in the school orchestra.

Young girl: This is the icing on the cake. It's incredibly fun. He is very straightforward.

R: Rybak has been an instructor here 3 consecutive year, and he promised already last year (2008), that he would come back. ESC victory and celebrity status didn't made him change this.

A: I do think I have lost some money on beeing here, but it's definitely worth it, because this is like a vacation for me. I am so fond of children, and I get so much energy from them.

Rune Bergmann: He is exactly the same childish and nice guy that he always has been. So it has been really nice to have him back.

R: But Rybak admits that it has not always been as easy to be one that plays classical music.

A: I was embarrassed because it was not so cool to play classical music. Because I didn't have such a nice environment as this. I will do everything I can to contribute that this environment never will disappear.

R: Now the student practicing a special version of Fairy Tale for the concert on Saturday.

Rune Bergmann: Very good. They learned quickly, but it could have something to do with knowing the song from before.

A: It is absolutely beautiful. I am in heaven.

R: You said that it's a shame that there was only one concert.

A: No, I haven't said that. Because we want to visit all parts of Norway, but I hope I will be able to come back another time. What I said, was that it is a pity that I am here only one day and not even that.

R: But you were well received?

ANNA: It feels great, and it was fun. And the audience was wonderful, and the guys back there too. I am so glad that I have done this.
R: you're a pro, and can do anything.

R: Anna, we stand here now, but if we look over there, we see Alexander Rybak. On our website we have had a little competition, where the public has voted for what they want you, Anna, to do. There were many options, and what many have voted for - also those who won - was that they wanted to see you speak Norwegian with Alexander Rybak.

R: I can actually disturbe here, I have the first rank, but it seems a bit silly to do so. But now he comes. Alexander Rybak! Monsiur, monsiur! We are on the air now, you can come here a second?

A: so much fun, Thank you a lot. Let me shake yur hand. Hello, and you, too. hey, hey!

R: Stars. What is this? Super nice to everyone, except me.
A: It is an important meeting this. and point at his fans)

R: Yes, but now you should meet the woman who won, and who should speak Norwegian with you.

A: Hey!

R: go ahead, now I leave the microphone to you.

ANNA: Oih! I must try to speak Norwegian then. That was a wonderful hug.

A. Thank you.

ANNA: Is it nice to be in Sweden?

A: Yes

ANNA: What is best, Sweden or Norway?

A: Ah! Right now, tonight it is Sweden, right?

ANNA: So good!

ANNA: I'm terribly bad in Norwegian.

A: Yes, this is Swedish.

ANNA: Yes, exactly, but the word "klem" (hug in english)

A: yes?

Translation of the video: Rybak ready for Moscow - Lørdagsrevyen 9.5.09.

http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/indeks/170373

R: Rarely is a Norwegian artist met with greater expectations in front of an ESC final.
On stage in Moscow Alexander Rybak appears as a Norwegian fiddler, mixed with modern pop and Russian folk dance. The week ahead is crucial for a tense 22-year-old man from Nesodden and Belarus.

M: are we ready Rybak?
A: Yes
M: Do we have the magic? Is it magic?
A: Yes, 5 kg of magic
M: There you go.

R: Cabaret meets Russian ompapa music. This is also Alexander Rybak. He has spend the time well since the Norwegian victory.

A: And there is the guitar. There came the guitar.

R: A few weeks ago, the recording of his CD was finished. Record Contract with half of Europe is done.

M: I think we start to get level.
A: It will be russian
M: This can be a CD
A: Can I come in now?
R: determined and impatient.
A: The worst thing is, if I work with someone, and I say Oih, there is one thing we forgot. And then they say: Yes, but we fix it next week. But, hello, we do live until next week. We have to do it now. And it applies to everything. I do not like people --- what's the point of waiting?
R: With a fantastic carisma on the stage it was easy to buy Rybak's fairytale. The week ahead will tell us if the rest of Europe will do the same.

R: Last rehearsal at NRK, before Moscow. From early childhood, life has consisted of practicing on the violin and piano. Not always voluntary.
A: No, it was not. I cried when my friends were out to play basketball, while I had to practice for 2 hours.
R: If you have children, even once, would you have claim as much of your own children.
A: No. I am afraid that my children are going to be like that child who kicks an old lady in the leg, and I'll be smiling saying: They will learn themselves.

R: Garedermoen, Monday morning this week.
A: The time is? The time is half past seven in the night.
R: The next stop is Moscow.
A: The first strategy is to sleep when I get home. When I get home. Laughing. Coming home I say. Yes, it is perhaps a bit of home. Also, just ----. It's so nice diurnal rhythm there. You get permission to get up at like 11 every day. It is perfect for me. Bye!

A: in Russian: We are very aware of the ESC, and then say we all say unison: one, two, three: Hello Moscow!!

R: He speaks fluent Russian.
A: Let's go into the bus..
R: He came with his parents to Norway from Belarus when he was 4 years. Not bad when the job partly consists in charming the Russian press .
A: I have to translate everything that happens, I really should get double pay.
PK: You're so tall.
A: You too
PK: I want to wish you good luck.
A. Thank you.
R: Suddenly one of Russia's most famous pop singers shows up - Philip Kikorov.
A: He came here just to say hello to me, and it was nice. So a good start.
R: Soon ready for first rehearsal in the Olympic Arena. On Thursday, the semi-finals, then finals on Saturday. For Rybak the world will never be the same, no matter what happens.

R: And Alexander Rybak is not only the bookmakers favorite. Dynamo Story has already booked Telenor Arena at Fornebu for next year's international ESC final. That's what we call the top of optimism.

Translation of video: On-line chat with fans 2 days after the winning of MGP in feb. 2009. VGTV.no

http://www.vgtv.no/?id=21307

A: I wish I was able to use the "touch metod".

R: Alexander Rybak "Tett på nett" on VGTV today. What questions do you got?

A: Lots of different. First, not all are questions. Some is good advice, others are compliments. But there is a lot of nonsense, and that's what I appreciate the most. Proposals and stuff, that you do not need to take seriously.

R: What do you say to those who ask if you want to marry them?

A: I think wedding is a bit overrated . But anyway, I just encourage them to take hold of me on the street, and not write too many messages. Because I'm so busy, but if I go on the street, I may have time.

R: You met with several media yesterday, even though you were quite ill, and had thrown up all night to Sunday. Now it's Monday. Are you better now?

A: I feel certainly much better than yesterday, so I'm happy. Yesterday was horrible. I trembled and "blæææ", and was cold all the time.

R: You look pretty fresh now!

A: Thanks. I just put on my lenses, and fixed the hair.

R: But, you won and are Norway's contribution to the ESC. Has it sunk in yet?

A: I'm starting to enjoy it now. Especially now that I am well again. Holy damn, now I'm looking forward to Moscow. It's so nice to finally be able to say for sure that Yes, I am going to Moscow with Frikar - my boys - we are a great bunch.

R: But 750 'Norwegians voted for you on Saturday, and 1.5 million saw you perform 3 times. What do you think about that?

A: It's fun that I have contributed to that the interest for MGP has increased. That was one of my intentions to sign up for it, and it is amazing that I managed to do it. And thanks to all the people who voted for me. Without them I had not got the 750 'votes.

R: What are your plans from now on?. It's some months until you are going to Moscow.

A: There is a lot on the schedule. Now I'm looking forward to seeing Maria Haukaas Storeng in Malmo. That will be fun. If I fly over there to see her, I don't now yet, but I certainly want to see it on TV. Then it's the tour with Bettan, where I am the guest. That will be fun. We are touring around a lot of places in Norway.

R: About Bettan, have you heard anything from her after your victory on Saturday?

A: No, she has stopped talking to me. Laughing. No, she has not. But we have rehearsals the day after tomorrow. I''m looking forward to that.

R: You have enough time to do that?

A: Yes

R: You have got quite many congratulations now. What is the best anyone has said to you?

A: In fact, the best message is similar to the many others, and it is simply that they are proud to have me in the ESC . And that I do really appreciate. And there are the messages from children, That makes me extra happy. It gives real power to me. And I feel that I meet a very broad group. Both children, and old people.

R: But what about your ex-girlfriend, who you sing about in the Fairytale? She has been an issue now for some times, and everyone wondering who she is. Who is she?

A: You just have to keep on wondering about that. No, I can not say who she is. It’s something about privacy. If she had been an artist, she would certainly appreciate a little PR, but I do not think that’s the way with her.

R: But, Alexander, now you go to Moscow, and you speak Russian. Can you give a speech in Russian to the viewers at VGTV?

A: to the Norwegian people? Yes.
(Alexander speaks Russian )----

Yes, that was actually a bit gebroken. Now I understand that I have to start practicing.
