On 23 April a new museum will be opened in Constantinople. It will be the first Ice Museum made in a hot country.
At the opening Alexander Rybak, the winner of the Eurovision song contest, will perform a concert.
The museum is located on the European side of the city. It will cober an area of 1400 sq. meters. Visitors will have to wear special clothing before entering, because the indoor temperature will not be more than -5 ºC. The museum will house 34 ice statues and the main theme of the exhibition will change every 6 months. The cost of the whole project is estimated to be 20 million euros.
Seventy tones of ice will be transferred from Sweden to Turkey, especially for the statues. About 100 tones of ice made in Constantinople will be used for the museum’s walls. The same crew has manufactured the Ice Hotel in Sweden.
The whole project has been undertaken by the Norwegian Lofoten Trading Company. The cooling system was created by Turkish engineers.

I haven't read all the post, so maybe this is old news to you. But the Menuhin galla concert will be broadcasted on NRK TV2 sunday evening at 21.10.

I think foreigners can't watch norwegian tv directly any more, but you can watch it on internet afterwards, if they add i tthere. They do with all the programs they have the rights for.

Great Venche! It is a recording because the concerts starts 19:00 I think. But then it is true what I read and write some months ago, that NRK would air it on TV the same night. After that they made people confused about P2, but it is still NRK2 :-) Some from abroad can still watch some shows, even it they have that (old) message about it.. And I will think (and hope) they have the rights for this one :-)

About the Menuhin galla concert, I'm a little bit confused about when in the evening they will broadcast it, in there own webpage they say at 21.10, but I saw a commercial ontv yesterday where they siad 20.10. So I'm not sure when it will be, but anyway it will be sunday night. And Marianne, as Gret says, it's not the pay channel, it's one of the NRK channels.

When I open the page of NRK - nett-tv, it says, the channels can only be watched from Norway...The Menuhin-concert is on NRK 2 at 21.10.
Will somebody please, explain to dummies like me, if I will be able to watch it or not.

It is sent on NRK 2 on Sunday starting at 21.10. You will not be able to watch live if you don't have a Norwegian IP-adress. Whether it will be put on Nett TV afterwards it does not say. For the competition there is a live-stream

The famous violinist Ole Bull, was born 200 years ago. He was a great artist, a magnet for audience, a girl’s charmer, adventurous, generous both with money and talent.

R: Festspillene in Bergen will be busy for you. You will be in 2 different performances, including a performance that is solo performance, together with percussionist Terje Isungseth, called "Jamsies. That’s an expression that we know from the Ski jump sport. Tell us, what is it about?
HH: We have 12 performances during the festival. What we have worked most with this winter' is "Jamsies", and I started 3 years ago to work with choreographer Sølvi Edvardsen, who has worked mostly with ballet and modern dance. We have spent a lot of "gokarsstykkene" , that has been missed by the tradition, in modern expression. Terje Isungseth playeing ice, and we will see how that will work out for his instrument.
R: Before you show us some of the oerformance, we have to ask what the "Grind snuff" is?
HH: 100 years ago, they called it "grinding snuff" when you spin around on your head in Halling Dance. We know that they went over to the U.S. and did many performances with the head spin.
R: The second show you do at the festival is called "Snuff Grinders," which is a mixture of Halling Dance, breakdance and Brazilian cavoela (?).
HH: I can add that in "Jamsies" so it's about a boy who survives a natural disaster, and he tries to create his own little community for himself on a glacier. And he has become a little twisted.
R: So there is a kind of apocalyptic show?
HH: Yes, we can say that.
R: Halgrim is out on the floor and get ready, and we'll see an example of the performance "Jamsies.
Is this the answer to the dance version of the film "The Road"?
B: Yes, we can hope for it. I have not seen this performance, but I’m very excited and I look forward to the show during the festival.
