Howl party and Rybak-fever

To Alexander Rybak, concerts in Bærum is a little bit like coming home. Thursday he was "welcomed home" by a giant howl at Sandvika storsenter.
355 days after Alexander Rybak's ESC victory in Moscow, the former Rud student is sitting in a closed, hidden-away room at Sandvika Storsenter. It is Thursday night, about half an hour before entering the stage at the mall. Last year's ESC-winner is once again about to share musical fairytales with an audience of several thousands people.
- You're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes off you, sings the 23-year old. He is sitting with headphones concentrating and rehearsing a little on the lyrics of one of tonights coversongs.
At the same time, three 12-year old girls are waiting at the stage in the mall. They have made mom and dad drive them all the way from Skedsmo to Sandvika to witness tonights concert. Now they have been waiting nearly two hours to see their hero.
- I want to see him because he plays such awsome music, says Frida Jensen (12).
- And I want to see his fiddle, says Lise Jensen (12). - And he has such a cute face, adds Mia Malvik (12).
One storey above stands the Skui-siblings Simon Casper Eriksen (9) and Anne Sofie Eriksen (8), trying to get a better place among the rest of the audience. That isn't easy. - I have seen him many times on TV and I really want to see him in real, says Simon Casper.
- I think it's really cool to listen to the song he played at MGP. I have it on my mp3-player, and I still listen to it sometimes, says Anne Sofie.
Few minutes later, the MGP-hero is coming through the dense crowd towards the stage, with the fiddle in hand and two big security guards both in front and back. As he jumps on stage, a unison giant howl comes from the audience. Rybak whips his bow against the strings. The concert is on.
The audience Thursday night gets to hear "Springleik", "Roll with the wind", "Funny little world" and of course, last year's ESC winning song "Fairytale". The surprise of the night comes when the 23-year- old asks Hege Anette from the tv-show "Tangerudbakken borettslag" for a dance, and on stage she gets flowers, teddybears and a song dedicated from Rybak.
- You're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes of you, sings tonights entertainer in Frankie Vallis song from 1967. After the concert, Rybak is swift to please fans and autograph hunters by signing everything from t-shirts and postcards to arms and shoulders.
Despite living at Nesodden, Rybak studied music at Rud videregående school. Rybak tells Budstikka that he doesn't forget the time at Rud, and that holding concerts in Bærum is a little bit like coming home. He has earlier proven his gratitude to the school by participating in this year's Rud school show.
- I would like to continue working with the guys at Rud, where they have the best teachers in the world. It's also very nice that so many Rud-students have helped me earlier, like the girl choir at the school, he says.
The 23-year-old says that despite busy days and a hectic life as a musician after last year's ESC success, he wants to keep in touch with the teachers at Rud. - I still have the numbers to Ivar Hovd and Øystein Fevang. They were my two mentors when I went to school, Rybak says.

Alexander talks about his relationship with his friend Didrik Solli-Tangen.

Alexander Rybak (23) believes the reason Didrik Solli-Tangen (22) didn’t wont to be in the TV studio with him, is that Didrok wants to build his own carere.

Last year's ESC-victory was not only a huge triumph for Alexander Rybak. But also for his classmate, Didrik Solli-Tangen, it has been very significant.

Recently Solli-Tangen told in an interview with P3 Morgen, how Rybak has helped him out and been a very important factor in that he this year is the one who is the Norwegian hope in ESC.

However, there are indications now that Solli-Tangen not want to be associated too closely with Rybak. Yesterday, he withdrew from this week's “Senkveld” after TV2 wanted to interview them both in the same show.

I think Didrik have been concerned that they will not be tied too close together, and I understand that he is trying to distance himself. More about the forthcoming Alexander Rybak interview to the Greek TV "MEGA". It was recorded in early March in Oslo but it hasn't been seen yet. It will be aired in a show at the end of May. Alexander Rybak, adulé en Norvège après avoir remporté le concours de l'Eurovision l'année dernière, sera présent le 29 mai prochain pour l'ouverture du concours à Oslo. Aujourd'hui, il est impatient de montrer la nouvelle direction qu'il prend avec son prochain album.

Afin de promouvoir le concours Eurovision qui se passe dans quelques semaines en Norvège, Alexander Rybak a repris son célèbre titre "Fairytale". Pour les besoins de la production, "Fairytale" a été écourté, passant de trois minutes à 1 minute et demie. Alexander se confiant au journal Aftenposten, se dit déçu et aurait préféré ne pas participer. Il estime que cette version courte dénature sa chanson. Il dit se détacher de plus en plus de l'Eurovision.

On note un grand changement dans l'attitude du jeune homme humble et attachant qui ensoleilla le cœur de la Norvège avec son violon, son chant et sa danse énergique. Alexander semble désireux de passer à autre chose. Il sortira son prochain album après le concours de l'Eurovision.

Ce nouvel opus sera un mélange de rock, disco, du folklore... et même du rap avec une amie d'enfance.

Il reste un jeune homme très occupé avec une série de concerts à venir en Norvège, en Russie et en Europe, et une tournée avec la chanteuse Elisabeth Andreassen. Il a également un tout nouveau projet musical avec trois élèves violonistes de l'Institut de Musique Barrat à Oslo, dont il est lui même issu.

L'Eurovision aura lieu le 29 mai 2010 au stade Telenor Arena de Fornebu à Oslo.
