Googlish Translation from Tessa's link (thank you, Tessa, very interesting!), I copied the text seperatly into the Google text area,
http://www.unofhordaland.org/2010/ung_symfoni_til_japan.htm :

Travel to Japan on tour with student finances supposed to be impossible, but with the Young Symphony goes all the way! A well-organized and varied tour we've got and I'm sure that there has been an experience of a lifetime for those who have been involved. We have experienced an incredibly exciting culture that is very exotic for us. But not least as the orchestra has had a very good opportunity to improve themselves, and the result speaks for itself! Thank you for letting me be part of this amazing trip! "(Trombone Simen)

I sit on a simple but nice hotel at the airport and will try to summarize the impressions of Japan tour with the Young Symphony. The time is 7 in the morning, there are not many hours since we landed and the whole symphony sleep after a long flight through several time zones. The dining room is almost empty, and outside is still the last gray snowdrifts. Easter is in decline and the spring is ready here at home. But Young Symphony took it down this year with a good week with Japanese cherry trees in full bloom! Believe how many pictures of blooming cherry trees that are home to digital cameras to this gang of 90 people? Cherry Flower in close up, great forests of cherry trees, temples with sprettak through the veil of flowers, the Japanese spring festival during the flowering trees - the motives were diverse and were everywhere.

But it was not the Garden team that was on tour. It was a great bunch of great young musicians about to make the leap from recreational activities in the youth orchestra to a professional musician. Young "plants" that have had a good breeding ground for their musical growth in the Young Symphony. Some have grown long and far, some are new sprouts with well-rooted in the cultural schools. And then the conductor Kjell Seim - Kjell-San - hardy and strong after growing up in the middle of the Hardangervidda and Geirr Tveitt Harding notes and Steven they build on the skin. With the introduction of Japanese speech and gesture genuine hardiness wing took the Japanese by storm and tied threads from apple flowering in Hardanger to the cherry blossom in Japan. A better gardener for young orchestral talent we have barely in Norway today - "the world's best conductor" said seedlings - which has at least one word in common in their characteristics of the trip: FANTASTIC!

Japan is on the other side of the earth and it was far to travel. We traveled in three basket ", some had to wait at various airports, and the day was almost gone before we put the legs on Japanese soil. But travel time also has its value, it was used a total way of activities and excited anticipation, eating - and a little bit sleep. When we arrived we were greeted by tour guides from the company Tumlare who were specialists in travel between Japan and Scandinavia. Already in the bus we felt welcomed as counts: in the three VIP buses with prism chandeliers in the ceiling and elaborate plush curtains we were driven to the hotel in Tokyo - New Otani hotel. It was not exactly typical Norwegian hostels standard! Three wings surrounded a Japanese garden with waterfalls, trees-presented and romantic walkways. Mid wing had 40 floors and the building housed a variety of restaurants, shops and elevators - which it did not do anything if we did not find out, for it was always a friendly Japanese ready to leading us to where we were.

First, we should relax our suitcases into our lovely equipped rooms, but so were all immediately ordered into the banquet hall to begin practicing with Kjell-San under chandeliers in far more massive than the issues in the bus. Luxury despite - this was what we were here for. And the exercise was necessary, some of the repertoire was new to the orchestra and was playing a concert the next day. Other things were rehearsed in the nearly two years, but did play together - the big Sibelius' second symphony slipped not just by itself. There used not to blame the jet lag - it was just to practice! A week of intense gameplay and four concerts in the giant halls lay before the young Norwegian cultural ambassadors. And discipline, they have - when needed. So we ate dinner and fell to bed.

Day 2 began with a dream of a breakfast before we got the bus in the suburb of Saitama, where we should have our first concert in the Plaza West Sakura Hall. Along the way, we were guided and told of the Japanese spring and flowering cherries that are so central to Japanese culture that the school year begins with the class and all the pictures taken during the flowering cherries. We had arrived just in time to flowering and the guide explained how the news reporting cherry condition around the country as one of Norway reports the weather. Outside it was freezing that day, but sunny. And during the week to both the heat and bloom come more and more.

The concert hall was not the greatest, but new and nice with good acoustics. Here the orchestra was practicing the whole morning and holding a concert in the evening along with Rio Yamase, a Japanese violinist who had put his love on the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle! Together with our own soloist Sonoko Miriam Shimano Welde would be a proper Japanese-Norwegian cultural exchange in the concert hall that day. It was a mildly exotic experience Yamase in red ball gown and fiddle playing, stamped rate and held a concert talks between the pieces of the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle. She also urged the public to ask questions - so here was an opportunity to tell both about how many months of the year, we fired with wood and when it was bedtime when the sun shone all day long. After the break was Kjells rehearsed presentation of Hardingtonar in Japanese received with great enthusiasm, Sonokos beautiful interpretation of Chausson Poems made public soft in his eyes and when the orchestra rid returned for the applause with familiar tunes from character studio Ghibli was the day and the experience perfect for both orchestra and audience. When did it not so much that isvinden met us at the door on the way out - it would be the likes martens!

New bus, new suburbs, new town center with a concert for about 400 people the next day. Perhaps this was the tour's heaviest days. Third day in a row with intense exercise and a short night began to be marked in some, and the audience was warm. Some dipped slightly and was perhaps not quite right in all parts of Sibelius. Kjell-San struggled valiantly and the concert was good at that. Good people there were and, and the applause was nice. But some were probably happy that the next day would be øvingsfri. Some had eaten sushi long and well the night before and gotten up at five o'clock to visit the fish market in Tokyo - the world's largest. Japanese fast food habits were now becoming known to us, and while some had thrown over lunch and dinner boxes to the exciting surprise packages they were, there were others who may not have adopted all the nutrients they should before a concert, and that had to hunt for Seven-Eleven in proximity when we were well back.

Day 4-5: Japanese tour

The guides were stressed. 90 Norwegian individuals going out and travel with ShinKanzen, Japan lyntog, and there was the embarkation and disembarkation take place in seconds! Experience with loading and unloading of buses certainly gave cause for concern. Friendly, but firm, it was clearly specified that here they got to adapt, bring minimal baggage and recover quickly on and off. Nerves came in helspenn in more than Tumlares representatives - particularly in those with average age around 50

But first we should visit the Japan's national shrine Meiji Shrine and Jungu Assakusa Kannon Temple with its shopping arcade. Ancient Japan was next in line. Meiji was a favorite spot for wedding ceremonies, and we were fortunate enough to view several wedding processions. The place was relatively new, a symbolic gathering place for all of Japan's provinces with a Shinto temple and a temple space where people could honor the emperor and hang their wishes on the branches of old camphor was said to be home to many spirits as they could be so old. The Japanese penchant for trees, we began to get an idea, and there were trees from all over Japan gathered and planted as a symbol of national unity. A huge drum notified when various ceremonies would begin. Our own Gran Cassa was Little in comparison! Assakusatempelet and the temple was guarded by gods of wind and thunder, which was fryktingydende at the entrance portal. Within breathing people into sacred smoke from a fireplace before they set out into the temple where a small golden goddess stood hidden behind a curtain and so far had not been beheld by someone with vision intact - before they flowed into the shopping arcade where the specialty was sweets made of red beans. Cherries blossomed - both real and artificial trees. And almost all were back at the buses on time. The guides were designed well to get us to the train station, and since traffic was slightly less korkete than feared, we were in place well before the train would go - and in fact we would have three minutes to get on the train here since Tokyo was the final stop. "Frightened" as we were went quickly and smoothly - even lunch boxes were in place in good time. Two hours brought the 60-mil-long trip to Osaka, the way we saw elegant tebusker in long rows and the sacred mountain Fuji shrouded in fog - it was certainly normal. If we had wasted a bit to get on the train, we were the quicker to bounce off, for here was to train on. Sure there was also good! The guides started to relax a bit more of - indeed, these Norwegians are not very streamlined, but they could if they wanted!

Hotel New Otani in Osaka was a little smaller but just as good. It was right on the river and with views to both kirsebæralleer riverside, Osaka castle just above and a stunning skyline of skyscrapers behind them. On top of one of them was the world's tallest Ferris wheel and there should not be left untried! Mac Donald's restaurant just behind the hotel was also tried by someone with muted enthusiasm for raw fish and seaweed jelly - and they knew the world's best burgers.

The concert in Osaka would be fantastic Izumi HALL. It was right next to the hotel and all got VIP card to travel in and out. It was a joy to practice there and people had rested in bed, spa and ferris wheels. Fun was also the competence and Korean Alexander Rybak - a bit of our continued - and the orchestra took the sporty that he changed the score around 140 times en route. Swinging did, and at the concert, he was sure the Japanese to Korean and stroke by as well. Sonoko played as a goddess in her beautiful white dress and Sibelius was like a shot! Full sales, big applause, two extra numbers! We were on the upward curve, and three japanerinner got his life experience when Arthur took them in the room of Alexander after the concert. Bowing and smiling in would cloud.

Tumlare had planned well, even if it meant that we began in the early days. Good Friday we were going primarily to see the Golden Temple and its forest park and Ryoanjitempelet in Kyoto before lunch. The discipline had begun to spread in ungsymfonistenes series, so we did fine until we asked nicely on the platform in Kyoto to take lyntoget back to Tokyo - full of souvenirs and impressions from the beautiful temple buildings, sacred springs and flowering cherry trees. Kyoto was a beautiful city and definitely worth a visit, even if it happened in Japanese turistvis - in the fast train speed. Think about the climate change negotiations had been as effective as our Japanese tour guides ..

We came back to Tokyo business hours when the Japanese poured out of skyscrapers, all in black suit and tie or equivalent dress. Those who were not exhausted or broke the round-trip went for even more shopping, and did well in the crowd - we old was impressed with them and started to relax a little bit off, walked in the Japanese garden or went shopping and we will.

Concert Success, developer and gala dinner

Last concert was to be himself the Tokyo City Opera Hall, which was even stricter than in Osaka, and it was handed out stickers with Backstage Staff at all and given the clear message that the food, beverage and other root was banned in the hall and stage. So was the audience also worth respect and order - with a roof in a pyramid shape, sleek interior and an acoustic for the gods. There was rising curve steeply - and the audience at one was filled with at least 1200 Japanese and a couple of Europeans, it was full flap Rybak-San with his Coldplay song with full choir and orchestra as well as Sæter Girl Sunday in Bull-style, Kjell Maestro San vibrant Japanese speech, Norwegian steving and kjellsk fencing and above Sonoko Miriam who surpassed themselves and had to sign autographs in the foyer afterwards. A fantastic experience. The audience clapped and Bravo, Kjell had to come out again and again. And again. And again. Ingeborg blåbærli song-song, Ghibli-medley was played to great cheers, but the audience did not give up. Not Kjell either. Three of Harding notes to the left - five additional numbers and ten evokes - it was more than even KjellSan had experienced ever. Storskrytarstevet to Tveitt narrow walls and the otherwise wary Japanese public was at least as happy as us Norwegian Hardanger tone lovers.

Perhaps needless to mention that avslutningsfesten was going on in the traditional Japanese show that evening was also a happy time on earth for the Young Symphony? A big thanks was expressed to and from Tumlare, from and to Kjell, and from the Magne-San. Some could also karaoke afterwards - but Kjell overslept and had to be retrieved when the bus went the next morning ... but only he san!

I thank you for me after my fifth trip with the youth symphony - all beautiful and special, it is an experience to travel with such a great orchestra and the fine young people. I do otherwise Kristian bass his words to my:

"Thank you! To all! And not least of Rieber and Kjell, great leaders who are working like crazy behind the scenes, especially Magne. Without you this would be impossible This is by far the craziest and most memorable experience I've ever experienced. Arigato Gozaimasu! "
